Michael has been a traveling photographer since he first picked up a camera and decided that he would learn to use it properly in 2014. He learnt lighting techniques from online sources such as Zack Arias and David Hobby. He has since enjoyed portrait photography as a passion and loves presenting people he knows in an unusual but honest light. He often engages with his subjects in conversation, and sometimes asks them to tell stories while he photographs them.
Since he travels frequently due to school or pleasure, Michael has photographed the vast majority of his portraits with no professional lighting equipment, instead adapting desk lamps and phone lights to mimic their effects. The result is a much more organic and responsive, yet dramatic effects.
